What to Bring on a Fishing Trip in NJ: Gear, Tips & Checklist

Headed out on a fishing trip with us this weekend? Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, showing up prepared makes the experience smoother, safer, and way more fun.

At Canyon Eagle, we provide the boat, bait, and crew—but here’s what you should bring to make the most of your trip.

The Essential Fishing Charter Packing List

  • Sun Protection

    • Sunglasses

    • Sunscreen

    • Hat or neck gaiter

  • Weather-Appropriate Clothing

    • Light layers

    • Windbreaker or rain jacket

    • Non-slip shoes

  • Food and Drinks

    • Bring your own cooler with snacks, water and drinks

    • Yes, we’re BYOB (just be respectful—no glass)

  • Cooler for Your Catch

    • We have coolers on board, but bring one for the ride home.

  • Motion Sickness Prevention

    • If you’re prone to seasickness, we recommend taking meds like Dramamine an hour before departure.

    • Tips are appreciated by the crew.

What Not to Bring

  • Glass bottles

  • Bananas (it’s bad luck in the fishing world—seriously)
